HUmboldthain: A Microcosmos

 artist walk (2023)

A walk through my local park as palimpsest, as the perpetual flux of matter in the sands of time. We reflect on the park as a microcosm, in a nod to Alexander von Humboldt (who the park was named after) and his magnum opus Cosmos. From shield volcanoes and glacial erratics, dunes and deserts to overgrown bunkers, rubble women and their termite sisters, the inventors of concrete. We take a break for a somatic meditation to sense into our own bodies as a dance of the elements and end with a slice Sandkuchen under a statue to reunification.
